600 yd Pit Work
Written by Dan Wiswell
Sunday, 12 May 2013

This was a good week to get the work done on the 600yd pit. Friday the pit wall was put back in place and the berm put back in front of the wall, and the 300yd backstop removed. Saturday we had a good crew headed by Dave D and Bob L, who put the target carriers back in place. Scott F started touching up the number board but had to stop when it started raining, so we'll need to do that and put them in place before our first Hi-Power match.

Thursday evening 600 practice will start this coming thursday.

Thanks to all who showed up to help with the pit work.

So I hope to see you there.

Women's Night
Written by Dan Wiswell
Friday, 26 April 2013

As many of you know, a Women's Night has been established at the Hampden Rifle & Pistol Club on Tuesday nights from 6 to 8 pm. The goal is to give women the opportunity to network, learn, and shoot with other women. We are encouraging new and experienced shooters to join in.

Some of the Range officers have been instrumental in getting this Women's night started, but, we hope in the near future this will truly be an all women's night with women helping womenlearn firearm safety, shooting technique, and be able to discuss issues around concealed carry, home protection, and other women centered topics. Until we have more women experienced enough to effectively facilitate the night, we continue to appreciate the help from the officers.

That being said, we are asking that women who want to participate do not bring their husbands, boyfriends, fathers, or other men to Women's Night. It's two hours a week just for women! Remember, Friday nights are open to everyone, so that would be a good night for mixed couples to shoot together.

Thank you for your cooperation and hope to see you at the range!

Rifle Range Work
Written by Dan Wiswell
Wednesday, 24 April 2013

Starting on April 29th, the rifle range will be closed until sometime after 5pm each day. Workers will be working on the 600yd pits, taking it apart so we can put down a slab for the blocks that make up the pit wall to set on. We will let you know when the work is done. So if you see the "Range Closed" sign out on the 200yd range and nobody around, DO NOT move the sign and use the 200 range. Only the person who put the sign up can take it down.

Thanks, Dan
