HRPC is a rifle and pistol club located in Hampden Maine.
We have a partnership with Herman skeet club, where we refer members to them who want to shoot skeet, running clays or trap. They in turn refer members to us who want to shoot rifle or pistol.
What calibers are allowed at HRPC?
No .50 BMG.
Yes, we do have a lot of space at the club, however, we do not have the " carry over" if a .50 BMG leaves the range. They are not allowed at HRPC.
Any other rifle caliber is allowed on the rifle ranges.
On the pistol ranges, any pistol is allowed. We would ask that any rifle cartridge based pistol not shoot at club steel in the bays. *(During team practices or special events you will see rifles used in the pistol bays)
Shotguns can be used in either location.
Range etiquette:
If someone is shooting their rifle on the rifle range, and you want to shoot pistol, please go down to the pistol areas. If you also want to shoot rifle, pack up your pistol gear and head to the rifle range.
If someone is downrange adjusting their targets, do not bring firearms to the line. Wait for them to return, and then bring forward your firearm. We strongly enforce a "hands off firearms" when shooters are downrange. No exceptions.
Targets:
HRPC does not supply targets for general use on the outdoor ranges. League night members pay a small fee (typically $2 - 5 bucks per week) to use club targets and equipment. A video will be posted soon on how to use the target carriers at 100 and 200 yards at the club. League Nights: Monday (Winter) Junior shooting program. From 10ish to 18, we have junior shooters of all ages who want to learn how to shoot. We teach the traditional NRA 3 position rifle training, and compete via "postal" matches against other Junior programs in the state. Wednesday (late spring, summer, early fall) Action Pistol. We shoot both USPSA and IDPA style. The league night is a great way to try the sport and meet some of the other shooters. We start around 4 and go until dark. Come on and try it with us. (This activity will continue in the winter on the indoor range, pending completion 2010/2011)
Thursday (summer) High Power Rifle / 600 yard practice. Ever want to shoot 600 yards? Thursday nights during the summer and early fall is the day to try it. We start around 4/5 and shoot for a few hours. Automatic Firearms:
Legally owned fully automatic firearms are allowed at HRPC. We do ask that members who want to shoot them to be proactive and contact a member of the Exec council so we are aware of the possible days this activity might happen. (This is so we can talk to neighbors if needed) |
